There is a peal board in the belfry on which Herbert’s name appears, along with George Sibley who was the father of Bertram. It is likely that George is also one of those in the photograph but sadly none of the ringers are named. Perhaps if anyone has photographs of Ilminster ringers in the early 1900’s it would be possible to identify others in the picture.
Credit is due to Alan Regin, Steward of the Rolls of Honour
at St Paul’s, for identifying Herbert Doble in the group photograph, and for
sharing his research. His work helps to
ensure that the names of those ringers to whom we owe so much are not
forgotten.
